HQ ARRC cioè il Corpo di reazione rapida della NATO

1 UK Division, la 1a Divisione corazzata attualmente (ridotta) in Iraq
con 3 brigate corazzate (4th, 7th, 20th) con 1 reggimento carri (Challenger) e 2 battaglioni fanteria (Warrior), 1 reggimento cavalleria, 3 di artiglieria, 4 del genio, 1 aviazione etc.

3 UK Division, che è assegnata all'NRDC-IT (il Corpo d'Armata italiano di reazione rapida)
con 3 brigate meccanizzate (1st, 12th, 19th) ciascuna con 3 battaglioni fanteria (1 su Warrior e 2 su Saxon) 1 reggimento Challenger e il resto come la 1 UK Div tranne il reggimento di elicotteri che è in comune

16 Air Assault Brigade, attualmente in Iraq
con 3-4 battaglioni fanteria (2-3 paracadutisti, 1 del Royal Irish Regiment), 1 reggimento di artiglieria, 3 di elicotteri che dovrebbero ricevere a breve gli Apache e unità varie di supporto

Queste tre sono le unità ridispiegabili (Ready Divisions, nella terminologia inglese).

Poi ci sono quelle stanziali che comprendono le piccole guarnigioni di Gibilterra e delle Falkland, le unità di stanza a Cipro e il Comando dell'Irlanda del Nord con 3 brigate di fanteria con una decina di battaglioni, 1 reggimento del genio e uno di elicotteri.

Poi c'è il SAS (22nd SAS Regiment).

E infine ci sono le 3 divisioni territoriali (Regenerative Divisions) che controllano 10 brigate di fanteria territoriale e alcune altre unità che a loro volta controllano amministrativamente tutte i reparti non nominati sopra. Attualmente è in corso una piccola ristrutturazione che renderà mobili 2-3 di queste brigate per ottenere qualcosa di simile alla 10th ID americana.

In totale il British Army, e non Royal Army come ho sentito dire a qualche brillante giornalista nostrano, è composto da:
11 Reggimenti corazzati che fanno parte della Household Cavalry e del Royal Armoured Corps, compresi i reggimenti scozzesi e irlandesi, non esistono unità gallesi di cavalleria
14 Reggimenti della Royal Artillery, compreso quello che serve nella 3 Commando Brigade che fa parte della Royal Navy
11 Reggimenti dei Royal Engineers
1 Reggimento SAS
5 Reggimenti dell'Army Air Corps
10 Reggimenti delle trasmissioni
Circa 40 unità logistiche da battaglione in su (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Royal Logistic Corps, unitò sanitarie etc.) E infine 40 battaglioni di fanteria che dipendono dalle suddette unità ma dipendono amministrativamente da altre divisioni che sono:

Di solito i reggimenti di fanteria hanno un solo battaglione, vengono tenuti in vita per tradizione ma non hanno nessun ruolo operativo.

Esiste una lista dei reparti suddivisi per armi e divisioni, è lunga ma se vuoi la posto.

Il Territorial Army è composto principalmente da part-timers, come la Guardia Nazionale USA edè costituito da:
4 reggimenti corazzati leggeri, 7 di artiglieria, 5 del genio, 2 del SAS, e una quarantina di unità logistiche e da 15 battaglioni di fanteria.
